I like Tex idea! "All you wanted to know about a foreign culture and never dared to ask", "I didn't know that!" "Tell me about your country"... Hmmm, you have triggered one of my neurons ;P

daughterofalbion Yes, we have an English category for translating into English from any language. For any given language, there is probably close to as much or more interest in translating from that language to English as vice versa. In other words, if there's enough English -> French to justify a separate category, is there not enough French -> English to justify a separate category? From my point of view, this tree organization is really fantastic. I suggest to organize it by origin language We can collaborate in reverse translation just going into each language thread, whithout having to create an endless tree of categories under each language. In this way, we will likely get immediate help from native speakers, too. This forum could be a kind of college of languages where you can attend any lesson (= language). What do you think?

lakapsule44 That just showed up for me yesterday as well. Since Proboards, the name of the company that offers free forum sites like ours, is free to their members, they pay the bills by advertisement. Hey, and congratulations on your 50th post! You're officially not a "New Member" anymore! Hello, Thans for these explanations. 50 post, I'm pretty talkative !

letraa I really like the new layout with subfolders. It's sorted by target language rather than origin language but other than that I think it is what you're talking about. Now we just need to wait and watch it grow :-)

could you please add Spanish ===>French, please? That should go under the Français board, right? Give me some minutes and I will create a subboard called "Traductions dès l'espagnol", c'est correct?

Now we just need to wait and watch it grow :-) Well, yes, the boards' titles are organized by target language (Translations into ? language), but subboards are organized by origin language? (Translations from ? language) Hmm.. I am going to make subfolders too.. this is changing fast and I am sure I saw no subfolders in the morning I am sure it will be growing a lot in the next days. In fact, the Englsih Language thread is becoming "fatty and pretty", as a newborn growing fast.

I'm working on finishing up organising right now, adding that one is included. In fact, I think I just did. PS: If you notice any posts that I got in the wrong place in trying to sort them out, let me know please!

Hello,
Would be possible to translate some online article from some magazines or newspapers ? I mean, just translate, for example, one article in posting the link and our translation. I suppose that is not against the rules ?

lakapsule44 As long as what you are translating is public domain and free from copyright infringement, by all means. Just make sure that what you are doing is legal first. You can send moderators and administrators links so we can look over the copyright implications before you start translating it and trying to use it if you're not sure. =)

@camden Ferguson,
That could be a translation from an article of The Guardian or another newspaper or the reader PressReader for example. I don't post the article, just the link loads to it.

lakapsule44 The Guardian is not available for public use in all aspects and is bound by US Copyright laws. Were you to obtain written approval from The Guardian, you would be allowed to do that.

Hello Lakapsule, Maybe this could help you: www.mediation-animale.org/internet-et-droit-de-reproduction-d-articles-de-journaux/Be careful, this article was written in 2009 and since then some laws about the protection of the copyrights are stricter. I also saw on some newspapers’ websites that the reproduction for any kind of uses of their articles is forbidden. I think that the fact to post only the link and not the article make no difference about the law on the copyrights.
