First post, ok :-) I entered Duolingo few month ago, I heard a lot about "immersion" in the forum, I learned in Duolingo's guidelines how to earn linglots by using "immersion" I I was seeking for it again and again - never found it. It took week till I finally heard about the fact that not all members could use "immersion" and that it was finished totally now. So I am not here in this forum (as all other members) because I am missing "immersion" but for the reason to find out: What is it??? :-)

:-) Glad to have you here, karin! First of all immersion on Duolingo was a way for us to translate acticles and stories collaboratively together. In this manner we could learn more advanced epressions, grammar concepts, and even important cultural aspects as we worked, both native and non-native speakers together in the stories. Here we are trying to recreate that learning environment and sense of joint purpose by using SmartCat and google docs as our platforms. You should be able to see language categories to the left alphabetically starting with Deutsch. Each language folder has a translate section and is further divided into subfolders according to the proposed document's translated language. If I wanted to translate from French into English I would go to the English main folder, click translation, then chose "translation from French". Not all the folders have document proposals in them yet. To translate a particular document, you must leave a comment on the document thread that you wish to translate or send the orginal poster a private message (PM). The person who proposed the document will contact you and you can exchange email via PM. Then you should get a message with the document in your email. I recommend reading some of the threads here on how google docs work: communitytranslation.freeforums.net/board/15/setting-using-google-docs and here on SmartCat: communitytranslation.freeforums.net/board/104/launch-smartcat-training-websiteI see you speak German natively and know French, English, and some Italian. siri is our German moderator and she can help you with any questions in the German documents, francevw is our French moderator and is likewise happy to help. There isn't a current English moderator, but I too am happy to help answer questions, and would like to add that you are welcome to message me about any of my documents. I'd be happy to add you to a FR>EN or EN>FR document that I have proposed. There is also a conversation section in each language category and a "general chat" button at the top where we can post anything interesting, provided it falls under the basic community guidelines. Good luck! Tex

Nice music ! But, what shiver me timbers mean ? "what does shiver me timbers mean" It doesn't really mean anything, it's just an exclamation in "pirate talk" which is generally used to express shock, annoyance, or surprise (typically by authors trying to make their pirate characters sound authentic). It was Robert Louis Stevenson who made it popular with Long John Silver in Treasure Island.
