Hello/Salut! My native language is English, I'm learning French, and I know a little bit of Afrikaans and Dutch as well! In my thoughts, I think it's really neat that some people are native in multiple languages. Some languages don't have a lot of native speakers, though, like Esperanto and Hawaiian, most likely because Esperanto is a constructed language and Hawaiian's only spoken on one of the islands in Hawaii.

Welcome Speir! I'm intrigued by your interest in both French and Dutch. You wouldn't be fascinated by Belgium, would you?

I most likely would, since French and Dutch are both official languages there. I take it you're learning French as well? It's a neat language, and it would be efficient for when I visit places in Canada, although French is different there.
Also, thanks a lot for the devotion into making this site! It's really appreciated (sorry for getting so sidetracked; it tends to happen with me frequently).

Hello, I'm Belgian and my mother tongue is Dutch (Flemish). I have quite a good mastering of English and French and I'm studying Spanish. Welkom! It is wonderful to see more Dutch speakers on the forum. Camden Ferguson will be pleased to have more company!Your Your native language is Dutch? That's really neat! Dutch is one language that I've always wanted to learn (the Netherlands is on my places to visit).

Speir, actually I lived in Belgium for a little over two years and just returned home a few months ago, so, yup, I've been learning French for a while. I lived in Wallonie and worked in Flanders, mainly with Spanish speaking people. How's that for confusing?! Good luck on your studies! The Benelux region is a beautiful place. Do try to visit it if you get a chance!

That's really neat, and that is a bit confusing! A lot of people have told me that cities in Belgium are very nice, and I will try to get a visit someday if I can!

My native language is English. Although, according to this poll, the majority of users have this in common with me, it's great to see that there are users with other language backgrounds learning on here. In my experience, people who are fluent or native to a language can be great help to those trying to learn. As someone who is learning French, it's awesome to see that there are a good number of native French speakers on here!

I'm learning French too, and it's great to see that there is a good amount of native French speakers! It's good to have a variety of different languages people speak, and -as you perfectly put it- it can be helpful for those studying them.

Glad we share the same ideas about the benefits of a diverse community of language learners!

Wow, there's definitely a large number of people who are native in English, but, I personally think it's great that we have a community full of people who speak different languages. I'm native in English. And I'm learning French, and am very far from fluent. This was an interesting poll, though.
