I would be happy to be a translator or project coordinator for French (especially French to English). I would also potentially be interested in being an administrator, though I'm more familiar with the maintenance side of things than with administration.

I can help with English, French and Italian translations into Spanish. I can give a hand with administrative issues and with coding in PHP to convert an open-source solution into an a collaborative translation tool, too. We all have little time right now, but I am here if I can be of some help. Hi Letra and thanks for your kind offer. Unfortunately, because you do not have an account on Communitytranslation I cannot send you a personal message if and when I am ready to invite you to try the new facility. In addition to registering, please follow the verification procedures here: linkSame goes for anyone else. Before posting on Communitytranslation, please register and verify. Done! And sorry because these days are really chaotic! I am not receiving any kind of update or notifications from the forum (evne after being verified) and I only learn about new comments visiting the site ( Edit: Just enabled mail notifications. I am not used to have them all deactivated by default Thanks for that, JoThelan!

New Immersion Facility - Update 1 If you live west of the Indian sub-continent
then "Good Morning!"
else "Good Afternoon!" ;
Welcome all homeless Duolingo Immersion fans!
I have been working with JoThelan and ifphigenia overnight to come up with a new parliament* where we can live in peace, after being ejected from the Duo Owl's barn (is there such a thing as a green Barn Owl?).
The good news is that we already have somewhere in mind, kitted out with shiny new perches and an Immersion-like interface that would probably make the Owl green with envy, not that you could see the difference.
Although it is early days yet, we want to make sure this new facility is set up in a controlled manner, so we don't suffer from the spoilers and general unpleasantness that put some Duolingo users off Immersion altogether. We also want to keep the pilot low key, so that the owners of our new parliament building don't get scared they are being invaded by large broods of owlets, until we have had a chance to study their "lease agreement" (i.e. Terms and Conditions) in more detail.
JoThelan has her hands full with running this wildlife rescue centre (US center), ...
<snipped> ... Hopefully I, SussexSoleil or your new Immersion Admin or PC will be back in touch soon.
* the English collective noun for a group of owls.
Thanks to everyone who has expressed an interest in trialling this new facility, and I appreciate your patience as we get it up and running. Whilst I haven't been able to respond to everyone in person, I have tried to "like" your posts by way of at least acknowledging your kind offers of help.
As I only know English and French, I've been exploring the administration and translation features with some able assistance from knittingirl and ifphigenia .
Not too surprisingly, our forum administrator JoThelan has asked that we take this pilot project forward without her direct involvement, so she can remain focused on the Communitytranslation forum. And before ending this paragraph, I would very much like to acknowledge the tremendous amount of work and the professional way she has set about this, apparently with no prior experience of ProBoards.
We should soon be at the point where we can start to nominate and invite Project Managers to set up projects in the languages you have expressed an interest in translating. Sadly, Esperanto is not supported.
Over the past week, I have been having discussions with a representative of the website to ensure that they are comfortable with what we are proposing at this stage, and in taking on this number of new members. And whilst the site is free to use, we cannot of course permit any misuse of the site that might put this opportunity in jeopardy for all of us.
The good news for those of us that hate vandals, spammers and trolls, is that their security model is much better than Duolingo, so we can more easily enforce sanctions, should it prove to be necessary.
Their aspiration is that some of you, having become proficient with their software, would want to certify and become freelance translators, or work with us towards setting up a commercial language service bureau on the site. Of course there is no obligation, cost or commitment to do any of this at this point. I also trust that the Google Docs option will remain operational for those who don’t want to explore this opportunity; there is no reason for these options to be mutually exclusive.
So please keep a watch on your private messaging mailboxes. I will need a valid email address and some basic personal details to register you. Please have a gmail or similar account set up and ready. If you are going to be a Project Coordinator (Project Manager), I can provide you with a ready-made email account.

I would like to be a Project Coordinator for Esperanto (Eo>En, En>Eo) and Hindi (Hi>En, En>Hi) Immersion, if needed and will be translating Esperanto/French>English at the moment Hi Anneysha, The new facility we are looking at does not support Esperanto - I guess because it is not a language that there is any demand for in the commercial world, or maybe they just don't have a dictionary available for that language. It does support Hindi however, as well as French and English of course. Is the lack of Esperanto a deal breaker for you? I have had confirmation that the new platform does not support Esperanto and there are no immediate plans to do so in future. Sorry! It's Google Docs at the moment.

Hi chirelchirel, Sorry if it is a bit "secret squirrel" at the moment! Because the facility is on a commercial, shared platform, I need to be careful to set this up properly and not violate their terms and conditions. You are more than welcome to try translating first and progress onto a coordinator role later, if you wish. I still need a volunteer to coordinate a Nordic language group. From your interests, you might be ideal for this. And if (as I recall from a post on copyright) you are looking to become a professional translator, this solution could be ideal for your needs. Please PM me an email address where I can send you an invite and we can take it from there.

I think I had misunderstood the message, then. If we are focusing on a current given and shared solution for making collaborative translations, then no programming knowledge is needed. Then, I offer my help as some kind of "coordinator", too.

I would like to be a Project Coordinator for Esperanto (Eo>En, En>Eo) and Hindi (Hi>En, En>Hi) Immersion, if needed and will be translating Esperanto/French>English at the moment :) Hi Anneysha, The new facility we are looking at does not support Esperanto - I guess because it is not a language that there is any demand for in the commercial world, or maybe they just don't have a dictionary available for that language. It does support Hindi however, as well as French and English of course. Is the lack of Esperanto a deal breaker for you? Hi, SussexSoleil! It works for me. :) Working as a project co-ordinator for Hindi requires time and effort. :) I would gladly work for Hindi. :) "or maybe they just don't have a dictionary available for that language" http://vortaro.net:) What is the translation project about? At first, I thought that it was related to this forums and Duolingo languages (that's why I suggested Esperanto and hesitated with Hindi projects and didn't suggest Bengali at all). Since you said that Esperanto isn't going to be one of the translating languages, I'm curious about the project you are working on. Maybe you have already answered my question but since I read the main post days ago, I might have forgotten some details. I will return and edit my response if I find details that answer my questions. :) Edit: Ok. :) Am excited now! :) I've read your edit. :) Just as a side note, I'd also like to be a project co-ordinator for Bengali (if possible) and will gladly help with Hindi translations (I am no expert though). :) Sorry for my late response.

Is there a general estimate for a date for the new website to become available? I'm really starting to miss Immersion and using Google Docs just feels too tedious and no one has joined me.
Thank you for your hard work on making a new replacement.
